Flying Dog - In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen

Ok. First let me apologize for not posting pictures of beer in glasses. What was I f*ckin thinking? I will never be taken seriously as a beer connoisseur if I don't acknowledge that people care about how beer tastes AND looks. So moving forward, all my posts will include a view of the beer in one of my family crested beer mugs.

So, on to this beer. Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat Hefewizen.

Well, I know what you're thinking. Nothing says tasty like the thought of a skinny black dog in heat. Well, I'm sad to report that this beer does not deliver as advertised. I struggle to find words that can clearly communicate how my mouth feels drinking this. Colors may work better. This beer tastes like green with some orange and polka-dots.

If you like the taste of colors and patterns then you may like this. Also if you like the taste of rotting grass or sink sludge then this may be the beer for you. 1 out of 5 stars.

Flying Dog - Old Scratch Amber Lager

Wiki, wiki, wiki, wiki. It's Friday night and after a long day at work I was super pumped about getting my swerve on. I know my homies from da' ville know what I mean by that. Anyway, after a long ride home listening to Tribe Called Quest and Onyx I opened up an Old Scratch Amber Lager.

To my surprise, this beer does not taste like an old record scratching. Nor does it taste like poison ivy (trust me, I know). It is a non-offensive product. Not too heavy but not too light either. It's kind of like a salad with a hamburger on top. I hope that makes sense to you because it makes a lot of sense to me.

Regardless, I would say that if you like typical American lagers, like Yuengling or some other crap like that then you will most likely like this. It sort of has a lemony kind of taste to it as well. 2 stars from me.

Flying Dog - Snake Dog IPA

So today I worked from 8:30 to 8:30 and boy did I want a beer when I got home. It didn't take me long to remember that I now blog about drinking beer. Funny how I seemed to have forgotten about it already. Anyway, I digress. So after reviewing my options I pulled an ice cold Snake Dog IPA from the fridge. This is another offering from Flying Dog and I must say it's not really my style.

The beer itself is a little hoppy with maybe a hint of lemon or something. I don't want to bash it but I'd be O.K. with never drinking it again. 2 out of 5 stars from me.

Flying Dog - Road Dog Porter

Grrrrrrr. Ruff, ruff. Now this dog will bite. Upon pulling this tall, dark bottle out of my fridge I was immediately taken aback by the label. It appears that our friends at Flying Dog have selected a half rabbit, half gnu, half John Lennon, half referee as the symbol for this fine beer.

Well, they made a perfect choice. This beer was pretty good. The taste was a little smokey and maybe more watery than it should have been but still good. It kind of reminds me of fine english toffee, dipped in beer, then set on fire.

I could drink this all night. 4 stars.

Flying Dog - Tire Bite Golden Ale

So today is the day I decided to start my new blog. Boy I love beer and I figured let's get this party started with something fun. What could be more fun than a Flying Dog?

Anyway, I bought myself the mix pack and figured I'd have fun tonight trying different Flying Dog beer. My first selection was the Tire Bite Golden Ale. According to the website Tire Bite is a refreshing, light, warm weather slammer with a flavorful hop edge. I must admit I was a little surprised by how light this beer was but it sure is tasty. It has a slightly fruity taste and is quite refreshing. If you need to buy a good beer to share with a few females this would be a good choice. If you're looking to appear macho then I would pass on this. Over all I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Welcome to Bruce's Brew Ha Ha

Welcome to Bruce's Brew Ha Ha. Basically, I like beer. Nothing is as exciting as going into a beer distributor and buying a new case of beer to try. If you're like me then you're probably often fooled by the bright colors and fancy names associated with all the micro brews out there. Most of the time this is a pretty good method for buying beer (or anything else in my opinion) but every once in a while you'll get that beer that tastes like ear wax and lentils. Hopefully through my hard work and sacrifice you'll never have to deal with this again.
